Microneedling (Dermapen Treatment)

What Is A Dermapen / Microneedling?

Microneedling, or using a Dermapen involves injecting very fine sterile needles into the skin to create tiny punctures, known as micro-injuries. These micro-injuries encourage a healing process, causing collagen and elastin to develop. Together, they form a new layer of skin that is stronger, smoother and renewed, without lines, wrinkles and scars.

Who Is Suitable for The Dermapen / Microneedling?

A person’s appearance depends on elements such as:

  • Family History.
  • Body Weight.
  • Your Lifestyle.

Dermapen / Microneedling can help with various skin conditions, including:

  • Crow’s Feet.
  • Acne Scars.
  • Hyperpigmentation.
  • Rosacea.
  • Sun Damage.
  • Dark Circles.
  • Eye Bags.
  • Pores.

These skin conditions can also cause additional trouble:

  • Stress, anxiety and reduced self-confidence.
  • Feelings of unattractiveness holding you back from social engagements and being in the moment.
  • Frustration with beauty or medicinal creams that just don’t seem to be working.
  • Only wearing clothes that hide the affected areas.

As a consequence, you may seek to reduce or remove these problems through the Dermapen / Microneedling. It is suitable for all skin types and skin tones.

What You Need To Know About Dermapen / Microneedling

  • It can be administered in 3 sessions over 18 weeks, or you may have a course of 3 in 1 sitting.
  • The procedure takes 45 minutes – 1 hour.
  • Numbing cream can be applied beforehand to reduce potential pain felt.
  • Results depend upon skin care before and after each treatment.

What to Expect after Dermapen / Microneedling

  • You’ll be provided with a personalised skincare regimen to soothe and lessen any pain felt.
  • You may experience dry skin or red discolouration. However, this will disappear after a week.

Swelling may also occur, though this will subside within a few days.

  • Do not use make-up for at least 12 hours following the procedure.
  • Downtime is minimal and you can usually go back to work within 2 days.
  • Staying out of the sun is advised, as is using sun cream for 3 – 10 days.
  • Results take place gradually, though you should see a marked improvement within a few months.

The Benefits of Dermapen / Microneedling

  • Compared to chemical peels, laser therapy and surgery, Microneedling has been proven most effective with skin regeneration.
  • The procedure improves the skin’s absorption capacity, allowing minerals to aid skin recovery.
  • Removes old tissue allowing healthier and refreshed skin to develop.
  • Stops to new lines and wrinkles from developing, therefore reducing early signs of ageing.
